Natalia Pogonina is a leading Russian chess
Woman Grandmaster and member of the Russian chess Olympic team. Her current FIDE
rating is over 2500. She won the gold medal at the 1st International Mind
Sports Games, some of her best performances includes, championship titles at
Bykova Memorial, Rudenko memorial, Moscow Open.
She would like to see women chess players doing their best to match the best
male players. According to her, we might see a female absolute world chess
champion. Apart from Chess, Natalia is also widely known as a person of great
physical and spiritual beauty.
In this interview with WGM Natalia Pogonina, she talks about her goals,
chess and education, Chess Kamasutra book etc. According to her, it is possible to apply sex principles to chess. Interesting

The 2008 Las Vegas International Chess Festival will take place June 4 to
7, in South Point Hotel. The $100,000 Prize Fund is based on only 850
players with $70,000 absolutely guaranteed. The Susan Polgar World Open Chess Championships for Girls and Boys is one
of America's longest running, premier Open tournaments.
The National Open is a 6 round Swiss System tournament, and you can choose
between the standard 3-day or alternate 2-day playing schedules.
Half-point byes are available for all rounds, with proper notice to the

Rybka retains the World Computer Chess Championship title Written by content team 20 May 2009
Rybka dominated the 17th World Computer Chess
Championship by winning the title with a point and a half to spare. In the
final round, Rybka beat its closest rival, Junior from Israel, to take the
title. Junior, Shredder and Deep Sjeng shared 2-4 spots.
This year's World Computer Chess Championship had hardware restrictions,
all computers were restricted to eight cores at the most. Report with games

Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura, 21, of White Plains, N.Y., won the the 2009
U.S. Chess Championship after winning in the ninth and final round at the
Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis. Hikaru Nakamura won clear
first to pocket $40,000
($35,000, plus a $5,000 outright winner's bonus)
with a final round miniature smash over GM Josh Friedel. Report with

GM Areshchenko Alexander won the Mumbai Mayor Cup International tournament Written by content team 18 May 2009
Second seed Ukraine Grand Master Areshchenko
Alexander (ELO 2657) emerged champion as expected here at the Goregaon
Sports Club, Malad (West). In the last 11th round 23 Year old grandmaster
that had black pieces drew his game with Uzbek GM Iuldachev Saidali (ELO
2497) in only 10 moves in the Sicilian Defense Najdorf Variation game and
clinched the title. Areshchenko attained the GM title at the age of 15
only.

USCF lost 1,500 members and $420,000! Written by content team 16 April 2009
Under the leadership of USCF President Bill Goichberg, Vice President Jim
Berry, VP of Finance Randy Bauer and Executive Director Bill Hall, the
United States Chess Federation lost approximately 1,500 members (according
to Mike Nolan) in February in comparison to 12 months ago.
The USCF also lost $420,000 (according to USCF Chief Financial Officer Joe

supermodel and president of the Estonian Chess Federation.
This year's Mtel Masters is category XXI with the participation of Carlsen,

title of World Champion. This was followed by a prolonged break from
tournaments. In this interview with Viswanathan Anandconducted by Harry
Schaack, the World Champion reviews the events of the last half year and
looks ahead to the GRENKELEASING Rapid World Championship.
Anand talks about Aronian's playing style, according to Anand, though he
opens with 1.d4, he treats these positions like an e4-player. If things
get complicated he always sets small traps for his opponents. He is a very
gifted tactician, calculates excellently and hardly ever misses chances
offered to him. All this makes him extremely dangerous.

the vice-president of the Chess Federation of Azerbaijan, an international
arbiter. He is working as the deputy of the chief arbiter at the IV FIDE
Grand Prix series tournament being played at Nalchik, Russia.

Aronian won the fourth
Grand Prix FIDE tournament which was played in Nalchik. He won in last
round against Hungarian Peter Leko, the Armenian grandmaster has scored
8,5 points out of 13 points. He wont the tournament with one full point.
After this tournament Aronian has moved on the third place in the general
Grand Prix standings following Teimur Radzhabov and Alexander Grischuk and
