Levon Aronian takes 3-1 lead against Kramnik

Aronian vs Kramnik Rapid Chess Match is taking place at Yerevan, Armenia from May 4th to 6th 2007. The match will be played in the Yerevan Opera House. On the second day Armenian chess star Levon Aronian won the three consecutive chess games against Kramnik. Three losses in a row for Kramnik is really surprising. Today is the last day of this rapid championship and Aronian needs just a draw from 2 games to claim the title. Spectators must be very happy to see all the games there are no draws in the matches so far. Read more with the pictorial report.

On day one both the players scored one point each. Kramnik won the first game, after winning game two Aronian's confidence helped him in other games. In game 3 Aronian maneuvered his pieces very well, he managed to get the advantage in the middle game and took the full advantage in the end game. In game 4 Kramnik hoping for a win chose to take risk with black pieces but Aronian was up to the challenge. On move 43 Kramnik resigned. On the final day Kramnik is forced to try and win both games for a tie. At the press-conference, Kramnik stated that he was playing for a win, but unfortunately misplayed the opening.
