Candidates Matches 2007 round 4: Leko, Kamsky Qualify to round 2

Peter Leko and Gata Kamsky won the games with black pieces to reach round two of the Candidates, they are now at 3½ points. Leko won his third straight game to defeat Mikhail Gurevich, while Gata Kamsky beat Etienne Bacrot. Grischuk and Bareev won the games and are on 3 points. Judit Polgar is not looking in a good form, the way Evgeny Bareev dominated against Judit Polgar was surprising.

The Candidates Matches for the 2007 World Chess Championship Tournament will be held in Elista, Russia from May 26 to June 14 2007. 16 grandmasters will play two rounds of six-game matches. Top 4 players would qualify for the 2007 World Championship in Mexico City.

Peter Leko of Hungary and Gata Kamsky of the USA both won game 4 to tally 3.5 points each and win their matches against Mikahil Gurevich of Turkey and Etienne Bacrot of France. Alexander Grischuk and Evgeny Bareev won as well against Vladimir Malakhov and Judith Polgar. Lev Aronian and Michael Adams also won over Magnus Carlsen and Alexey Shirov, respectively, to lead 2.5:1.5.
